What gets checked
- 20–60 HzDeep bass — is the subwoofer actually contributing, or just along for the ride?
- 60–250 HzMid bass — the punch. The first region door speakers give up on.
- 250–2,000 HzMidrange — voices and guitars. Most of the music lives here.
- 2,000–16,000 HzTreble — detail and air. A dead tweeter shows up here.
- DistortionSpot tones at 60, 315 and 1,000 Hz listen for buzz, rattle and strain.
